Delicious Fall Cocktails

With the weather getting blissfully colder, we have fall on the brain. There really aren’t many more things than curling up on a fall day for a hot beverage and a good talk with a girlfriend. Except, of course, for if said hot beverage were of the adult variety! With summer slowly fading from our memories, we’re more than ready to enjoy a little liquor-y liquid libation. The drinks below would be perfect for a fall tailgate, a cocktail hour, or a bachelorette party! Enjoy.


Kahlua Hot Chocolate –

2 Cups Whole Milk

½ Cup Chocolate Sauce

4oz Kahlua

Whipped Cream


Combine milk, chocolate sauce, and Kahlua in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk together and stir occasionally until it begins to simmer. Transfer hot chocolate to a mug and top with whipped cream. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can always add sprinkles!



Honey Crisp Sangria

3 cinnamon sticks

2 chopped Honeycrisp apples

1 thinly sliced orange

1 (750ml) bottle of red wine

1 ¾ cup apple cider

½ cup brandy

¼ cup orange juice

Juice of 1 lemon

Club soda, to taste


In a large pitcher, combine apples, orange slices, and cinnamon sticks. Add the apple cider, wine, orange juice, brandy, and lemon juice. Refrigerate from between six to 24 hours. If a sweeter drink is desired, feel free to add 1-2tbsp sugar or honey. Before serving, add club soda as desired.


Charles Dickens Punch

½ bottle Gin

½ bottle Madeira Wine

3 cloves

Pinch of nutmeg

1 tsp Cinnamon

2 tsp brown sugar

6 large orange and lemon twists

1 fresh pineapple

4 tbsp honey

Juice of two lemons

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan over low to medium heat. Let mixture summer for 20-30 minutes, without boiling. If necessary, drink can be reheated before serving.


Cranberry Thyme Gin and Tonic

¾ cup fresh cranberries

¼ cup granulated sugar

½ cup water

Orange juice to taste

¼ tsp vanilla extract

Fresh thyme



In a saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, water, orange juice, and vanilla extract. Heat for 10 to 15 minutes, pressing the cranberries with the back of your spoon until they pop (beware of splatter). Add the thyme and muddle slightly. Strain the mixture and save the cranberry syrup you extract. For each cocktail, add 1oz of syrup per glass and combine with 2oz of gin and top with tonic.


Hot Toddy

3tbsp whiskey

1tbsp honey

1tbsp lemon juice

1 cup hot water

Place the honey, whiskey, and lemon juice in a mug. Heat the water to a boil, and pour over the ingredients before stirring. Add more lemon or honey to taste.


Hot Buttered Rum


½ cup butter (room temperature)

½ cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

½ tsp cloves

½ tsp coarse salt


2oz dark or spiced rum

2-4oz very hot water

2-3tsp spiced butter mixture

Add the spices and sugar to the softened butter and mix well. Place the butter on cling wrap and mold into a log shape. Wrap and place in the fridge or freezer to harden. Heat the water and mix with 1tbsp of the butter along with the rum in a mug.


Pumpkin Spiked Latte

4 ½ cups brewed coffee

1 ¼ cups milk

1 ¼ cups RumChata

½ cup pumpkin pie vodka

¼ cup sugar

½ tsp ground cinnamon

Add the sugar and cinnamon to the hot coffee and stir until fully dissolved. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Either serve warm or over ice.


Spiked Apple Cider


4 cups apple cider

3 cinnamon sticks

3 star anise


1 ½ oz spiced rum

½ cup spiced apple cider

½ cup hard cider

2-3 dashes lemon bitters

Make the cider first, by combining the cider, cinnamon, and anise in a sealable container. Seal the container and refrigerate for at least one hour. Shake well before using. For the cocktail, fill a glass with ice before pouring the spiced rum and cider over the ice. Stir well and top with hard cider and lemon bitters.
